From the Publisher

Dear Readers,

Medicine asks us to keep evolving. We learn new skills, reconsider familiar ideas, and sometimes discover a direction we could not have imagined when we first became physicians. The theme of this issue, The Evolving Physician, invites us to reflect on that continuing journey.

Our cover story featuring Dr. Ian Tong offers one perspective on how a medical career can grow and take new forms. We also begin a special feature on Dr. Chai Chang Choi, a founder of the Korean American Medical Association, through the story shared by his son, Dr. Walter Choi. His journey reminds us that the opportunities we have today were shaped by people who persevered through uncertainty, separation, and the challenges of building a life in a new country.

Across these pages, heartfelt accounts from colleagues working in global health bring us closer to the people behind the work. Their experiences in community care, humanitarian medicine, and public health remind us how much we can learn from lives and settings different from our own. Our Editor-in-Chief will introduce the individual contributions more fully. As publisher, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has entrusted us with a story, an idea, or a personal reflection.

NexBioHealth is evolving as well. Beginning with this issue, we are moving from four issues a year to three, published in November, March, and July. Each issue will be more substantial, with more content and room to explore the subjects and experiences that matter to our readers. We hope this rhythm will give contributors more time to develop their work and readers more to enjoy in each edition.

This magazine comes together through the generosity of many people: our contributors, editors, volunteers, production team, and readers. I cannot name everyone here, but I am grateful for the time, care, and thought you bring to it. You make NexBioHealth a place where our medical community can stay connected and continue learning from one another.

As Thanksgiving approaches, I hope you will find time to pause, gather with those you love, and appreciate the people who have helped you along your own journey. Thank you for being part of ours.

Wishing you and your families a warm and peaceful Thanksgiving.
